Our short week in preschool FLEW by! The preschoolers worked on writing the letter 'J' and 'K' and practiced their corresponding sounds.
Puzzle building (alone and in a big group) was a fun part of free choice time.
Here are some more pictures from free choice time. These kids have so much fun during the day.
One of the table time activities was cutting, sorting and glueing. One side of the final paper was for insects, the other side was for fruit.
We did more sorting with these shapes. First sorted by shape, then by color, then by size. They loved to see how different the final groups looked each time!
We played with this vocabulary game building on the opposites focus from last week. I should have taken a picture of the inside of the box, but the kids shake a loose ball inside the box into one of the 8 spaces, which has a picture and word, then they think up synonyms and antonyms for the word. For instance, if "HOT" is your word, you would say "WARM", "BURNING", "ON FIRE", and your opposites would be "COLD", "FREEZING", or "ICY". It gets the kids thinking about and using new vocabulary words.
The math concepts that we worked on were one-to-one correspondence, sorting, grouping, and identifying numerals. I used a few of these math cards to reinforce it. They love playing learning games!
Another table time was practicing their fine motor skills with these tiny Lego mini figures. First, we sorted them into groups to make for easy building. Then they created lots of these fun little figures and stuck them to the board. It was tricky work, but they really enjoyed the activity!
