FAQ's

What days of the week are preschool days?
-We have preschool on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Drop off is between 8:45am and 9:00am.  Pick-up is between 12:30 and 12:45pm.  The 15 minute window will help ensure all preschoolers will be in class on time, and won't miss any activities.  We also observe the holidays, early dismissal, and breaks from the Houston Independent School District's calendar, as well as some other breaks. Why three days in a row?
-Kindergarten in Houston is full day Kindergarten, and depending on which school your child will go to, they will be there for more than 7 hours.  Our preschool is a Kindergarten prep, in every aspect of the word.  Not only prepping the preschoolers academically, or socially, but also prepping them for the amount of time they will spend away from home.  Three days in a row of preschool mimics Kindergarten more closely than every other day.  It will be a smoother transition to Kindergarten if preschool happens this way.  4 hours a day, three days a week is a perfect amount of time for a healthy transitional year.

What curriculum is used?
-Creative Curriculum. A thematic approach to teaching and learning designed to support children's natural curiosity and stimulate their creativity.  It offers children the opportunity to work in depth, giving them the time they need to reflect consolidate and transfer their learning.  It is a research based curriculum that focuses on child-directed activities in the following four areas; Social, Emotional, Cognitive, and Physical.  All lesson plans and activities created will involve those areas directly or indirectly.  For example, if I see that the children are showing a high interest in dinosaurs...
  1. I might bury toy dinosaurs in the sand for them to dig up during outside play time (physical, gross and fine motor activity, social, turn-taking and working together).
  2. I might let the kids march dinosaurs through paint to make their names (cognitive, letter and name recognition, emotional, choosing paint colors, turn-taking, sharing, imaginative play, physical, fine motor skills).
  3. I might make cookies with the kids for snack and let the kids crack "dinosaur" eggs into the batter, and cut out dinosaur shapes with cookies cutters (physical, fine motor skills, social, turn-taking, emotional, imaginative work and play).
  4. I might set up small group time with sorting and counting activities using small dinosaur manipulatives (cognitive, sorting, counting, patterning and other math skills, social, sharing and turn-taking).
-Creative Curriculum will help me teach things like phonological awareness, letter knowledge, mathematics, social and emotional skills. Being involved in a preschool program before entering Kindergarten will also help preschoolers have environmental awareness and improve their self help skills.  It will help them have good self esteem and be confident happy children.

How much is tuition?
-Tuition for the year, is $1,600 if paid in full - you will save money if you choose to pay in full. Monthly tuition payments are $180, for each of the 9 months of school.  School starts on Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 and tuition must be paid on that day (or before) for preschoolers to start. Monthly tuition will be due on the first day of class for that month, see calendar for specific dates.

-A $100 holding fee will also be required at the time of enrollment, to secure your preschooler's place in the class. This is non-refundable and not part of tuition. This money will guarantee him/her a place in class, and be spent on school supplies and other things to set up the classroom for his/her school year.
