Daily Schedule

8:45-9:00am Student drop-off. Students may come to school as early as 8:45, but I ask that you not bring them after 9:00. Being late to school interrupts everyone, and makes it so your preschooler misses out on some good learning time. During these 15 minutes, the preschoolers will have free play time while we wait for everyone to arrive.

9:00-9:30am Morning circle time. We will say hello to each student, sing songs, do calendar time, read books, practice simple math and literacy skills, stretch, yoga or other movement, etc. This is also the time of the day that I will introduce what we will be doing later that day and week.

9:30-10:15 Free choice (play) and small groups. I will work with 2 or 3 kids at a time on more challenging concepts while others play. Small group is typically more teacher directed and requires more of my attention, whereas free choice is a time where they can play with each other and develop great social/emotional skills through their interactions with others. Each student will have a chance to participate in both free choice and small groups each day.

10:15-10:30 Snack Time. Snacks (provided by me) will be mostly healthy, although on preschoolers’ birthdays and other special occasions, we will have treats.

10:30-11:00 Outdoor Play. Please make sure your preschooler is dressed appropriately for the weather. We like to play outside most days, although we don’t go out when it’s too cold or raining.

11:00-11:30 Table time. During this time we will be doing art activities, crafts, building, creating, etc. Some days it will be creating a set project, other days it will be free creative expressions.  This is also typically when we do sensory explorations.

11:30-11:45 free choice and small groups, same as earlier in the day, see above description.

11:45-12:15 Lunch. Pack your child's lunch with foods they will eat. I can keep things refrigerated if necessary (tell me at drop-off), and can warm things up.  Lunch and snack are great times for socialization and practicing self-help skills. As the preschoolers finish their lunches, they are welcome to do quiet reading while they wait for closing circle.

12:15-12:30 Closing circle.  We will say our good byes, talk about what we did that day, what we have to look forward to next school day, books, songs, music and movement, etc.

12:30-12:45 Free play, waiting for parents to arrive. Parents may come as early as 12:30, but must pick up before 12:45pm. The 15-minute window for drop off and pick-up are to ensure that each student will have the same opportunities to participate, and no one will be late.
