REMINDER

Wednesday is the first day of APRIL! How can this be? Tuition is due, and your very last calendar for Book-It is due. Please send it in so I can hand out their last Book-It coupons! Week 26 (March 25, 26, 27)

The kids have been very interested in BUGS lately. We talked lots about the differences between insects and spiders, and then we took out our new nets to try them out. The kids were VERY excited about the nature hike. I seriously LOVE these pictures, and I realize I took too many, but they were too picture perfect.

After counting lots of tiny bugs' legs, we made a chart to remember how many legs spiders have and how many legs insects have.

I brought out the magnifying glasses and bugs for them to look at and examine. They love repeating to me the little facts they have learned (even when I'm the one who told them in the first place).

Working with pearler beads takes a lot of patience. They are SUPER tiny and take lots of fine motor dexterity to do correctly. These guys worked very hard on their bug masterpieces!

On Friday, we celebrated Ryan's birthday! He happily smiled along as the other kids sang at least 15 rounds of the Happy Birthday song to him throughout the day. They got to eat cake balls for their snack and Ryan got to pick a few prizes from the treasure chest! Happy birthday Ryan!

I paired (or grouped) the kids up to play a few games. The first was a guessing game, similar to Guess Who, and they really got into it, even though it was hard at first to understand what to do.

Then we played a "Get Moving" version of Memory, where once they got a match, they had to act out what they got.

Finger Twister was hilarious. They used one hand for the spinner and the other to get all tangled up trying to get a finger or thumb in the right spot.

We had 2 nice days outside, and 1 rainy day. We made the most of our nice days by jumping on the trampoline and doing a little more bug hunting.

Inside playing with some old favorites, Color Clix. They always tell me all about each little part on their creations and what they're for.

Bug puzzles, of course.

Sight word bingo is getting too easy for these sharp readers now. I am SO impressed with their developing reading skills.

We got a new shelf (to hold all the toys I continue to buy - I realize I have a toy buying problem) and I saved the last screws for the kids to try to put in. They loved helping and were so proud once it was finished.

Inside recess consisted of practicing somersaults and other tricks on the foam pad.

This word building game is great, even for these guys who know all the answers. It helps them to understand spelling and how to sound out little parts of words that they might otherwise not notice. The other reason I got this game was that it targets lots of kindergarten standards, like letter-sound correspondences, associating vowel sounds with common spellings, isolating and pronouncing the initial, medial vowel and final sounds, and others. So good, right?
