Our short week went too fast for everyone. We started talking a bit about turtles and the kids loved it when I added turtles and frogs to the water table. This was after we watched a video of turtle hatchlings making the long walk down the beach to the ocean. Very cool. The kids mimicked it in their play.
On Friday they played with balloons. They filled them with water and tried blowing them up. It's harder than you think!
More fun outside! I felt like I had neglected taking pictures outside the last few weeks because we were SO busy having fun! So I made sure to get lots this week! :)
The new rock wall was a HIT and everyone followed the rules of only one kid on the wall at a time. Good job!
We talked about a few letters and their sounds, especially 'T'. They drew turtles and then wrote a big and little 'T'. They turned out so cute.
Another table time project was drawing on a BIG paper. At first everyone was drawing turtles, but then it changed to everything else. The kids then got to use scissors to cut out some of their favorite drawings to bring home.
Lots of games and cooperative playing! I love to see the preschoolers building their friendships and strengthening their play and sharing skills.
They played a few floor games, "Scramble" and "Lucky Ducks" were played in rotation with all of the preschoolers. They did such a NICE job waiting for a turn.
After our table time activities end, several of the preschoolers feel inspired to do more art, which I always encourage. Pretty soon we will start looking at and exploring new mediums with art. For now we are still focusing on "preschool manners" and following the rules of preschool. Once I know they can do a more complicated art project, we will dive right in!
I added red seeds to the black and white beans in a sensory tub for the preschoolers to explore this week. They loved burying their hands down in them and running them out of their loosely clasps hands. It's very calming for them.
