We talked about conserving energy and taking care of our families and our earth. One of the ways we could do that would be to turn off the lights in a room that no one is using. They made cards that made them official "Light Police". I made a sample on the white board and they created their own using that visual. Then I laminated them to make them look really authentic.
We each wrote a wish for our Earth Day wishing tree. The kids were very thoughtful about what they wanted to wish for to take care of the earth, the animals, the plants, etc.
I wish for the Earth to be clean. - Ryan |
I wish for animals to be healthy. - Logan // I wish for the world to be clean. - Hawken |
I wish that we can help animals. - Jeff |
All the rain made the grass grow really really fast! It was quite the jungle in the backyard last week, but they didn't seem to care.
They drew lovely Earth Day pictures and then experimented by rubbing their hands on their chalk pictures and then dipping them into the water table and then making handprints on the cement. So much fun.
Some playing pictures. What good is preschool if there isn't tons of playtime?
We used an egg carton to make turtles. They were excited to reuse the carton to make it into something new. They came up with another million ideas too. They are so clever!
Math games in teams has become a regular thing. They love it!
At the end of the day, we listened, sang and danced to the "3 R's" by Jack Johnson all about, you guessed it, reducing reusing and recycling! They were WILD while I was trying to get pictures of them, and then when I told them I was going to make a movies for the mommies, they all stood really still. Silly kids!
Here is the little clip. Happy Earth Day!
